The Real First Nudie Musical — Go Straight to Queer as Folk — Get Bare Behind Bars — Sex from the Land of the Rising Scum

If you grew up in the Tri-State Area during the fabled '70s, then you need no introduction to Oh! Calcutta!, the first nudie musical that brought genitalia to Old Broadway. The play premiered on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in 1969 but by 1972 was such a success that it warranted it's own pay-per-view special, unheard of at the time outside of sporting events. But then this was a true sport of kinks. The most famous performer to go full frontal has to be Bill Macy, better known as the beleaguered husband of TV's Maude. No wonder he looked so depressed on that hit sitcom, after having his groping way with five naked thespians on stage, one of whom--Samantha Harper--he married. Now on DVD for the first time, everyone can share in the nostalgia of the Sexual Revolution. Written by such luminaries as John Lennon, Sam Shepard, Samuel Beckett, and Jules Feiffer, the comic sketches are hilariously lowbrow and the song-and-dance numbers filthy. Oh, Calcutta!

Not quite as revolutionary, but still a touchstone in the battle for equality, is Queer as Folk, the Showtime series that took homosexuality out of the closet and onto the TV. The Final Season is out, too, on DVD today, and offers up some choice meat for the hungry lesbian lovers in the audience. It's sad to see all that girlie love get cancelled, but with the advent of digital technology, fans can return to their favorite scenes and freeze frame them for posterity and perversity.

In the oversaturated but never overdone genre of women's prison movies the titles often say it all, and few titles have said it all as simply and well as Bare Behind Bars, an X-rated Brazilian entry into the field that makes its DVD debut today. It's all there (and bare, of course), from the sadistic prison warden and no-holes-barred lesbianism (check out the threesome between blonde nurse Marta Anderson, her spread-eagle patient, and a dildo) to the unexpected (nude watermelon eating). The creators of this filth should be locked up--but then they'd be having the time of their lives!

The first in what became a tawdry trilogy of Asian arousal, Sex and Zen, out today on DVD, is arguably the best. The Hong Kong-produced steamer is actually based on a Ming Dynasty parable, proving that the good old days were the good old lays. The movie features everything from kink to real sex and even a classic Asian sex goddess in the fetching form of Amy Yip. It's the Skinsider's journalistic duty to report that Amy's lesbian scenes are actually the work of a body double, but you'll see double watching that body get it on with a big, black dildo!

If you could live forever, would you? That's the question at the heart of the thriller Lifespan, out today on DVD. If the Skinsider could share the endless time with an equally immortal (and very much immoral) Tina Aumont, the Hollywood brunette beauty who went on to appear in the sickly perverse Salon Kitty, the answer to that question would be a crotch-popping yes! Her full-frontal, bodily bound and weirdly arousing sex scene with a wolf-mask-wearing Klaus Kinski here is enough to shorten the lifespan of those weak of heart.

Kidnapping beautiful young women for satanic rituals may not be anything new, but it's always worth revisiting, as Amazon Jail, out today on DVD, reminds us. The Brazilian production stars two beauties unfamiliar to the Skinsider but well worth getting to know better. Shirley Benny is a blonde who gets full frontal, lesbianic, and even engages in a topless brawl. Elizabeth Hartmann is more demure; she just gets her tits fondled by the boys and girls. After watching this, the Monopoly Man can keep his Get out of Amazon Jail Free card!
