Director Robert Towne has made a career of uncovering the seedier side of life in Los Angeles. While Chinatown may be considered his masterpiece, Ask the Dust, out today on DVD, is surely his masturbation-piece. Based on the novel by John Fante, the guy Charles Bukowski stole his groove from, the story feels autobiographical, following a down-on-his-luck writer in Los Angeles, just like Fante. But if it is based on fact then all the more reason to envy the lucky scribe who, in the movie at least, gets a South of Her Border relationship going with Salma Hayek. The hot tamale shows off all her spicy dishes in a skinny-dipping scene that's sure to have audiences losing their salsa. Native New Yorker Idina Menzel, star of the Broadway hit Rent, makes her nude debut here as well. That's a lot to ask of the dust, but it delivers.

The good folks at Severin Films have said that Felicity, which they release in an unrated director's cut today on DVD, is the ultimate late '70s sexploitation pants-boiler. After seeing their earlier and outstanding DVD for Gwendoline, starring a pre-MTV Tawny Kitaen, the Skinsider trusts their word completely. The movie stars Glory Annen, who has been showing off her Canadian cuties since Alien Prey (1978) and up to The Lonely Lady (1983). But you've not seen Glory's glory until you've watched Felicity. This coming-of-age story takes place at an all-girl school, and if that's not enough, it co-stars Penthouse Pet Joni Flynn. Perverts, this is a lust classic and has to be obscene to be believed. Get it now!

There's nothing gay about Marcia Gay Harden. The Academy Award-winner from Pollock is the real work of art and one that is likely to have viewers splattering their man-made paint over her erotic canvas. And there's no better place to start than in her nude debut, and her breast reveal yet onscreen, in Fever, out today on DVD. This mystery is a real thriller in your pants thanks to a steamy love triangle that has Marcia at its most arousing angle. Things get complicated when Marcia is kidnapped; they also get skinful as her tormentor plays with Marcia's gay pair. She didn't show off her jugs again until the next year in Crush and then never again. Needless to add, the Skinsider is crushed.

Shakespeare's Slut is at it again, yes the sophisticated nudist Helen Mirren is back in the skin saddle with Hussy, an early '80s drama now out on DVD. Helen is a hooker, the role she was born to play, and falls for the lighting guy at the nightclub she frequents. The sex scenes between them are as close to a porno flick as softcore steamy is likely to get. OK, that may be a bit of an exaggeration, but it's still very arousing to see Helen get it on and then get it off for some full-frontal bath scenes that will get audiences off too.
