Gretchen Mol Turns a Bettie Page — Kyra Sedgwick Brings Home the Bacon — Angel Guts, Devilish Skin

If you’re like the Skinsider, you don’t go out to the multiplex. The way I watch a movie can get a guy arrested. That’s why I pen this column one-handedly and rejoice when a movie like The Notorious Bettie Page comes out on DVD, as it has today. Finally I can see (and feel) what all the hype was about. Gretchen Mol plays the pageboy hairdo’d nude model, which naturally means that she’s got to show off her naturals, which, I’m happy to report, she does. What really snaps the Skinsider’s bullwhip is Gretchen as Bettie doing some light fetish poses that come in for some heavy self-abuse at the Skinsider’s home theater. There could have been less about the controversy involving dirty pictures and the law and more about the cunt-roversy of Bettie’s more illicit portraits, but this is still a stroke ahead of any other theatrical take on Bettie’s lusty life.

Most of us have six degrees of separation between Kevin Bacon and like it that way. But on a good night (for Bacon) there’s no separation between him and his lady love, Kyra Sedgwick. While most of us will never know the joy of making whoopee with a movie star, we can still be fantasy lover boys thanks to the release today on DVD of Loverboy. Kyra shows off the tattoo on her lower back, but you’ll be forgiven if you miss it as it’s over her naked ass as she sinks into a bubble bath. Kyra also flashes those booby prizes in the tub. What’s most remarkable about this film, it’s directed by her husband! He obviously brings home the bacon but is very generous in sharing his meaty treats.

The pink films in Japan, exploitation colored with extreme sex and violence, came about as TV was siphoning precious viewer dollars out of the theaters. Studios responded with fare the boob tube wouldn’t touch, such as boobs, bloody ones to boot. Of the studios that produced this blessed expression, Nikkatsu was the best, as they, unlike their competition, showed female genitalia, although censors forced them to have those dirty bits pixilated. One of Nikkatsu’s later series, Angel Guts, is so bizarre you’ll forget about the pixilated genitalia, and Angel Guts: Red Porno, out today on DVD, is a good place to get acquainted. Based on a popular manga series, the film follows the misadventures of Nami Tsuchiya, played by the stunning Jun Izumi, and the storyline is shocking. Red Porno is the sexiest of the Angel Guts series, with masturbation and sex scenes that will send viewers heaven bound.
